Weapon exports from Germany to Turkey were approved in the beginning of this year.

According to the Economy Ministry, the German government agreed to export a total worth of Euro 25 million in weapons.  In total, there were 99 weapon deliveries, however, the Economy Ministry was unable to provide two of the deliveries. This means that there is a likely chance that the value of the transactions was even higher.

When comparing to last year, weapon deliveries to Turkey were quite higher than this year. In 2016, a total of 158 shipments were approved, amounting to a total of Euro 69.3 million.

According to the Green party lawmaker, Ozcan Mutlu, who initially proposed the request, “These transactions are continuing as usual, so Ankara is no longer taking threats from Berlin seriously.”
