Be prepared for take-off! Flying cars are now one step closer to reality.  A German company managed to successfully complete all test flights for a flying vehicle.  This concept has been discussed for many years and one can only imagine all the benefits that will come with, such as, avoiding traffic and shorter transport routes. Lilium, the German company that is currently working on such “cars” said these five-seater jets will have the ability to take off and land vertically, without the need of runways and could be used as taxis and ride sharing services.  Furthermore, this project is also supported by strong investors such as Niklas Zennstrom, the co-founder of Skype.

Part of the flight tests included that a two-seated prototype of the flying cars manage to fly as hover mode, similar to what we currently see with drones followed by wing borne flights.

This is definitely a very exciting project that everyone is looking forward to and whilst Lilum is highly developed in the making of these cars, other competitors are also providing prototypes.
